Djdealeyo presents October 2011 R&B , Hip hop music Reggae mix

I went back and changed the mix a few times. When you have rhythm and blues in the 160-170 bpm range it’s extremely difficult to mix so i decided to take some songs out. I added some radio songs to make it appeal more to the average hip hop music listener. This could have been an underground hip hop music mix but i made it popular to appeal. Warning this mix comes at you at a blazing speed. We got some more music from the best new artist KARL WOLF who is becoming my favorates. Also alot of emotion from Bruno Mars, BOB, and the new artist Tarik

1. J. Cole ft Drake- In The Morning
J. Cole is someone I started listening to last year. He’s very unknown but he’s becoming more and more popular doing songs with drake and trey songz. He’s very talented and he starting to get his due.
2. Jason Derulo– Picking Up The Pieces . Jason is starting to make his mark as an up and comer. The radio has embrace don’t wanna go home with the catchy hook DAY O
3. Bei Major– Lights Down Low
4. Bruno Mars– It Will Rain. Bruno Mars keeps on impressing me with how versatile his voice is. You haven’t heard this song yet . I hope the radio picks up this song and makes it popular. Very strong song.
5. Ace Hood ft – Body 2 Body. Ace Hood makes some really great songs. You should check the catalog. This song is getting airplay because of the Chris Brown feature.
6. Shawyze & Cisco– Over & Over. Great underground track
7. B.O.B- Strange Clouds
8. August ft Busta Rhymes- Here Comes Trouble. Busta Rhymes has been going strong for years and he is on everything. This mix ended up with alot of Busta. No Suprise

10 Akon ft Hamsika Iyer- Chammak Challo Remix. I’m a big Akon fan, he brings alot of artists along this is Hamsika Iyer had to get the spelling right

24. Royce Da 59- Random Bars. I was glad to see the bad meets evil give royce his due and much deserved. He’s made alot of interesting career decisions and very strong right now. I had some kids approach me about Royce and thought he was new. I assured him royce has been around awhile

baptism dj in Setauket. You won’t hear me complain that often when i’m playing.  But this wasn’t a good day for me.

With 2 hrs on the agenda from 5pm to 7pm. My goal was to expect the  worst and that’s exactly what i got. After Re Routing myself through Setauket because of the art fair they were having that weekend i arrived at the venue extremely early.   I decided to go small with the setup and it took me half of the amount of time as usual.  I used my own equipment.  At 4:30 , i see another disc jockey arrive and i’m reminded of a party i was asked to do 2 years ago where i left right away.

Immediately i was not the only baptism dj.

Parties don’t need two disc jockeys unless there working together but i’m talking about another Dj.  I knew my chance for over time was out the window. That’s a low blow for a Dj, and i think it’s insulting. I could have did the entire party, made good money.Anyway with a party expected to be delayed an hr anyway.  I concentrated on playing my mix and getting the games going. These kids didn’t listen at all.   It’s very unusual i usually get a great response.    I wanted to start with levitating circle but i axed that when they couldn’t get the concept of standing in a line and remembering a number.  Musical chairs was next,  and because i knew i had kids with ADD, i played  Red Light Green Light and closed with Mummy wrap. I had three people for mummy wrap by far the lowest total i’ve witnessed.   The postitive was playing my new mix (which can be downloaded at www.mixcrate.com/djdealeyo)

I think it’s tough when you have kids that are too young .  My 1st time playing as a baptism dj was a success

Can’t wait to do a real gig hopefully next week. Paul has now been christened as a baptism dj

i had a very queezy feeling about this birthday party. I didn’t think my laptop was gonna make it, it was slow and i wasn’t able to get into itunes to correct my playlists.

A very slow classic rock playlist and a 5 hour birthday party.

I thought i was in for it.  Then I got there and the was a huge hill just to get up to the pool and the patio area to where i’d be playing. Then they showed me the big orange wheelbarrow.  I don’t think i’ve ever worked so hard before a party as i did today.  I got involved with the kids and we had a watergun fight . I haven’t done that in years. It’s important for people to feel that your involved the party.   I always do something that people will notice. It wasn’t noticed which bothered me. Up and down the hill with the wheelbarrow.I didn’t have a table to use either so i had three stands set up. UGH , bring a table. Anyway

i started off this birthday party with her list for about and hr and half.

Went back and forth from my classic rock list to her list. Then i dropped the dinner cd, went back to classic  rock and her list again.Then i played some 80’s pop, and some 80’s remakes. Then i did my dance set, and did some more 80’s after that.  It was alot of fun. Lots of worrying for nothing, and i got to play another hour so that was very appreciated.  It had a great time in the hills of Fort  Solonga rocking this birthday party

Who can resist a double shift including a birthday party?

Birthday party time!

Well that wasn’t meant to be as i knew at about 1pm that wasn’t going to happen. So it was off to down the street where i had a 2 hr party in Holbrook. ‘m not a fan of 2 hr parties as a performer it doesn’t give me alot of time to do get into a rhythm and routine that I like. I got early and i started playing music at 440 even though i wasn’t supposed to play until 5pm. STRIKE ONE. wasn’t able to get into a good flow as i was playing alot of requests that were at different speeds.  Current hiphop is really slow and  i wasn’t able to get alot of beat matching that i enjoy.   I played mostly hiphop and some current dance.  had a bad feeling i wasn’t going to get to play overtime as i was getting into the higher point of my performance, i had to go home. They just couldn’t afford it.

Really nice people but they got me at a real discount price and i wasn’t able to truly get more for my overtime hour.

It’s upsetting because i’m not a discount Dj, and i didn’t get a tip or the extra playing time which i need on a 2 hr event.

Another birthday party complete i blinked and it was over

I was scheduled to do a birthday party at the same time a Hurricane named Irene was on it’s way.  This was the first hurricane to hit the area in some time.

Who cares this birthday party was gonna happen.

I’m so happy that people do not let the weather change their plans even in a hurricane.    My brother Mark was born in a hurricane in 1986 and even though it was pouring rain and i really didn’t feel like going.  I am so glad i went.  i got to see my brother and deliver a stuffed cookie monster doll.  i had a blast with my other brother Matt and nana as i waited for my brother’s arrival into the world.  That was in 1986, so it’s 2011, about 25 years ago.

The American Legion in Port Jeff was a very small venue but we made it work for this birthday party.

We played all of the classic disco, classic rock, and oldies you can imagine.  Then we started the kids games as we cranked the techno version of sesame street.We played Levitating Circle, Musical Chairs, and Mummy Wrap. The kids had a great time.  We finished out the party with the  80’s and the latest dance music. I also got to play this new birthday song i just got by Dj Mozes Lil Jon Dj Hype Edit We also played one of the dangerous games of pinyata i’d ever seen. I thought someone was gonna get hurt .  Tight quarters along with two guys standing on chairs with a big cardboard pinata on a broom stick No reported injuries

Always a pleasure to disc jockey for some nice people who don’t let the weather get in the way of the party.

The rain started alot later so they really made out
