With a fast growing business I was forced with a dilemma today.  Fortunately one of my Dj friends Sam Santiago was available  to help me play this corporate party in Southampton.    I’ve known Sam for two years as we share the stage at the annual Relay 4 Life for Southampton.  Sam is an outstanding Dj and i was happy to have him on board today. The following words were written by Sam talk about his experience playing music on super hot day in Southampton As any good DJ, I arrived an hour and a half prior to todays event.  I was greeted by Carly and some of the other party planners. They were extremely nice and Immediately we discussed where would be the best place to set up my equipment.  The caterers had arrived at around the same time, so everybody was running around getting everything ready for the 2:00pm start.  It was your typical beautiful Southampton Home that they rented for the summer, so I could imagine the parties thrown there.  If only the walls could talk, the stories!!!  Come 2:00pm, the guess started to arrive. It was an intimate affairs with a small group of well chosen friends and you can see them all enjoying themselves.  I observed a variety in age so I started with some classic hit songs and moved up to todays hit music. After dinner, I started to play dance songs and you can see people grooving to the music. As the dinner party started to wind down and the guess were leaving, many of them stop by the DJ booth to thank me for the music.  All in all, it was a really nice party and I hope to be invited again to play. One of the gigs that i always return for is the annual cocktail party at Southampton Commons.  We had a bad june 0 gigs but July and August seem to be  strong.  It’s interesting how up and down this sport is.   I decided to keep the heavy stuff at home and go light.  The light setup seemed to work great with the wireless connected to the mixtrack.  I just wish my Gemini’s would stay together no bass on one speaker again.  UGH.   Tired of fixing these things.   I had one unruly guest who complained about the music.  She came up and asked me to change the music.  And i replied what would you like to hear, she said Something different (I was playing oldies at the time and the lady was in her mid 60s).  I was very surprised.  The lady approached me again and told me I better turn the music down and got in my face.  I walked away.  I later heard she complained to one of the board members that she was not going to ever come back.  OK BYE.   She must have been having a bad day.  Too bad, the rest of us had a blast.  Great turnout as there weren’t enough tables for the guests.  I also tried the sign up high as it is usually connected to the table. Custom Cool Rugs fundraiser 8/25/2012 I was very impressed when I arrived at Custom Cool Rugs to disc jockey this fundraiser.  They had lots of nice tents setup and some cool asthetic decorations. I had a chance to walk inside and they have some really nice rugs, and pocketbooks.  The setup was very standard. … 5/31/13 I’ve been in involved with the Relay For Life fundraiser for a long time. I think back to when my friend Cathy asked me to help in this event and it just felt like I was helping her out. Over the years my role in the event has increased to this year where i played and talked for half of the event. One of the top enjoyments for myself in my life is to entertain others . This year I felt like I had an impact on cancer and that’s an overwhelming feeling. It’s nice to be apart of event where the dedication and commitment to not just putting on an event but going over the top and making it successful.  My goal was to perform at a high level and stay awake the entire event and I did that. I decided to split the Fundraiser into sections. This was my second time working the event and splitting the time with fellow dj Sam Santiago.  No ego’s here Sam is a very nice guy and talented performer. With mutual respect for each other we shared the stage and covered many musical genre’s. Sam started the event with the Opening ceremony and music from 6-8pm.  I took over from 8-10pm which included the illuinatry ceremony and the starting laps on the track. Sam resumed at 10-12pm which included the group invovlement dances which I have video of below.  I was back from 12-3pm where we did my favorite musical chairs, and some other games including pop balloon relay which was a new game that went over well.  Sam came back to wrap the event up.   Weather wise it was very gloomy out.  A week of rain showers raised many question marks for this Memorial Day Holiday Party celebration in East Hampton.  As any Dj, and party goer should know is not to let the weather put you in a bad mood.  I arrived early to find out where i was going to be.  It was nice to see some familiar faces as my friends from FOOD & COMPANY were there serving their food.   I met the host Ann and many of the guests and everyone was really nice.   People were outside under the heat lamps and fire mingling and having a good time.  It was my first time playing music in a leather jacket.  I played lots of rock, disco, Motown, and then moved on to the current music.  The kids and adults were singing karaoke inside which brought lots of smiles.  Here is the playlist from the party.
