#Relay4Life South Fork #2015 Southampton High School 5/15/15

This was my first #Relay4Life where i was providing the music by myself.  I’m always full of energy when i get there and exhausted when I go home.  The night began with opening ceremonies at 6pm.   The luminary ceremonies were held at 9pm.  Dance Hampton performed after that and .   Miles sung What a wonderful world and he sounded exactly like louis Armstrong he looked like him too.  At 12pm we did a lip sync battle which was new and fun.  Most of the games there were scheduled after 12pm never happened , i found that a little strange. This fundraiser is unlike any other. It’s twelve straight hours 6pm-6am. Luckily i have dj and friend Sam Santiago to help me get through the event. And even if you split it 50 50 six hours is still long a gig. So I would classify this as a dj marathon. It’s not just about Dj’ing as we both have to be sound engineers and at times the host the event. It’s for a good cause cancer research and i think they raised $56,000 dollars to help the cause and that’s just awesome. They decided to bring the event outside do to inclement weather that was on its way. I try to forget that i’m donating my time and try to concentrate on having fun and I had a blast. I was wearing goofy glasses and dancing around in my blanket. I tend not to get any rest during these things . I go all out and then recover the next couple days. As a long island dj you turn down lots of private parties.  I got the call about two weeks ago and I was asked if i did karaoke.  So I naturally said no i do not.  By accident , I was called again and I started talking to Peter and he told me that he dialed me by accident.  I asked I didn’t do karaoke but I did play games and thankfully they were trying to entertain some children.  Peter liked the idea and did his homework on us and decided to hire me to play last Saturday.  I was impressed with the house when I got there, with the inside being very impressive.  Very state of the art rooms, architecture, I was setup in a downstairs area that had a bar, pool table, a movie theater.  Total man cave that included an area that was perfect to play games with the younger kids.   We began with levitating circle, musical chairs, red light green light, and we finished up with mummy wrap.  I even got an idea that kept levitating circle going. Another highly anticipated day started early as I got a late call to pick up a bubble machine friday night.  Thankfully I was close to a Party City where i was able to pick one up.  I arrived in Bridgehampton early to setup.  I was a little disappointed that I forgot my fan.   As it turned out to be a hot day.  The kids really loved the bubble machine and that brought a smile to my face. Custom Cool Rugs fundraiser 8/25/2012 I was very impressed when I arrived at Custom Cool Rugs to disc jockey this fundraiser.  They had lots of nice tents setup and some cool asthetic decorations. I had a chance to walk inside and they have some really nice rugs, and pocketbooks.  The setup was very standard. … 5/31/13 I’ve been in involved with the Relay For Life fundraiser for a long time. I think back to when my friend Cathy asked me to help in this event and it just felt like I was helping her out. Over the years my role in the event has increased to this year where i played and talked for half of the event. One of the top enjoyments for myself in my life is to entertain others . This year I felt like I had an impact on cancer and that’s an overwhelming feeling. It’s nice to be apart of event where the dedication and commitment to not just putting on an event but going over the top and making it successful.  My goal was to perform at a high level and stay awake the entire event and I did that. I decided to split the Fundraiser into sections. This was my second time working the event and splitting the time with fellow dj Sam Santiago.  No ego’s here Sam is a very nice guy and talented performer. With mutual respect for each other we shared the stage and covered many musical genre’s. Sam started the event with the Opening ceremony and music from 6-8pm.  I took over from 8-10pm which included the illuinatry ceremony and the starting laps on the track. Sam resumed at 10-12pm which included the group invovlement dances which I have video of below.  I was back from 12-3pm where we did my favorite musical chairs, and some other games including pop balloon relay which was a new game that went over well.  Sam came back to wrap the event up. I was excited to hear that the Communion was going to be outside, disappointed it was only gonna be 3 hrs. No paper work was welcome because i’ve done this three times in a row.
